Ate here on a Friday night and the place was busy but we were seated right away by a very friendly hostess. I had the linguini and clams which was loaded with fresh clams and very good. The portions are huge. For desert I had the cannoli which is not a traditional cannoli but still very good. The shell is homemade mostly pistachios and formed into a cup filled wit canola cream. It was tasty but would have been better if the cream was more dense and thick. Also did not care for the Hershey syrup drizzled on top. Great food and friendly staff!

I really don't believe this restaurant even deserves one star. We had a 7:30'reservation for 10, we were immediately taken to a table for 12. The host (rudest man I have ever encountered) once he saw we were ten told us we had made the wrong reservation and would have to wait for a table....only 10 or 15 minutes...... 35 minutes later we were seated. That is not the worst of it. The host is obviously related in some way to the owners, for that is the only reason for him to still have his job. He was rude to everyone, not just us, was running around the restaurant leaving the door vacant for 10 minutes at a time. The restaurant was very very busy, so perhaps that's why they really don't care about being courteous. Food was just okay, I've had better at Augies the air was not working properly, fans weren't on, and to add to all these problems it was so noisy. I would NEVER Return. Boca and delray have hundreds of restaurants to choose from, why would anyone choose to go to a mediocre, noisy, hot, and rude establishment.

A slice of NY Italian in Boca Raton....as good as ever! I've been going to Matteo's in Roslyn, NY since it opened many years ago and since moving to S. FL, the Boca location has been my go-to Italian spot for good, authentic, consistent, "familiar" Italian food. As for the menu, I usually start with the Baked Clams and Fresh Mozzarella (warmed) w/ Roasted Red Peppers as Appetizers. For the main course, I either get the Chicken or Veal Parm, Chicken Scarparella, Angel hair Bolognese, Zucchini Linguine and/or Shrimp 'ala Wendy...all are winners! I usually end the meal with a great "homeade" Cannoli for dessert, which is a 9 out of 10 (the shell is cone-shaped, instead of tube-shaped and the cannoli cream is amazing)! Note: there are a few things to know before going. This is a great reataurant to go with another couple or group, because it's family-style. You can get 1/2 orders of all things listed (except cannoli) or full orders, which serves about 4 people. When I'm with a group of 6-8, I tend to get 2-3 full orders and 3-4 half orders, which always seem to be enough food. Make sure to ask your waiter for suggestions...they are very helpful and will tell you if you have too much or not enough. They also have a great bar (bartender is a pro and has been there for a long time), so if you want to grab a drink before your meal, it's a comfortable spot. Note: you can also eat at the bar, if you are 1-2 people and don't feel like waiting for a table. They also have outside seating, which is nice when the weather is not too hot. Warning: during "in-season" (winter and fall months) this place gets really busy, so I highly r3commend calling ahead!

Excellent food. Very fun authentic Italian flavor. The only drawback was waiting 30 minutes to be seated for an 8:00 reservation. However, the large portions and great food made up for it once we got a table. I will definitely dine there again.

I have been to Matteo's twice and both times the food was great. The first dining experience i tried the baked clams that were delicious and I shared the veal parmigiana as the full size was enormous. The ambiance was lively and happening. The second dining experience which was last week during the Holidays, was very nice besides having to wait when we had an 8pm reservation. We were seated at 8:30pm, however the waiter was fantastic and offered us all the information and tips we needed to enjoy our meal. We started with the Italian chopped salad. This salad included bites of salami and cheese that brought yummy flavours to the already amazing salad. We then ordered a full and a half of veal parmigiana that was wonderful. Overall, this restaurant is a great place to dine with friendly staff and caring owners. My only suggestion is to avoid dining there during the holidays unless you care to wait some time before being seated even with a reservation.

We stopped eating here after continual rude, arrogance as we tried to make dinner plans. They refuse to admit they do not take reservations, and push you aside as you wait for "your table to be prepared". We will not go back, there are too many other wonderful places who serve Italian food in a more pleasant, respectful atmosphere!

Just left my birthday dinner. Get the carrot cake! It's not on the menu. It's the best I have ever had. Everything was wonderful including the service. I know why others have recommended this place.

One of the worst dining experiences I have ever had. Incredibly rude server (i think his name was Butchie??) who asked for our order immediatly after we sat down, before we opened the menus, and was taken aback when we were not ready to order. He refused to take our cocktail order until we ordered our dinners! The food arrived 11/2hours later, dried out, flavorless, inedible.

Blah Blah Blah...just alright. If your looking for a place to take a date, this might work. Don't expect all the waiters to be smart though. Don't order any juices, you'll be disappointed, the cranberry juice is from the fountain and is the most watered down, sad juice on the planet. I must say the broccoli penne was good, a bit on the overly oily side, but still good. The brownie sunday is also good. Do order half portions, no one can eat an entire portion, unless you weight 400 pounds and eating is all you do.

We had a business dinner for four. Steven waited for us, they made a custom salad, serve the chicken mateo for two family style, veal chop valdostanana and then Nonna's ragu with meatballs we finished with New York cheesecake and spamoni ice cream, lattes wonderful wine during the meal. I highly recommended this restaurant.

The pasta al forno featured high quality mozzarella and ricotta. The home made cannoli was to die for and left me wanting more. We had an appetizer, three glasses of wine, two entrees and two desserts with a espresso, $118 was very reasonable and the service was second to none, White glove service all the way. Anytime we are in from Dallas, we will be back.

We had dinner here on SUPERBOWL SUNDAY, considering it was "season" here in FL, this was the best time to go there as it is usually VERY crowded. Dinner was excellent, shared dishes of Sea Bass, Veal....and pasta And a shared desert.....

I have never had a bad meal here.. I'm shocked I haven't written this sooner! I have been coming here constantly for the last year for at least one- three times a week.. The food is exceptional, the service is awesome, the level of customer service is exponential! The wine list is wide and very superb! On to the food- well you can order your meal either as a individual plate or family style- I have never ordered the "individual" size because to be honest I'm a fat bastard who loves to eat- So the family style is enough for 2-3 people I guess but for me is my meal and lunch next day.. The pastas are fresh and every sauce is amazing in its own right with a unique twist! All meat dishes are awesome- my absolute favorite is the veal chop it rocks my socks right off!! Now let's talk about the "Burnt" veggies OH MY LORD! They are so amazing you will just want more and more- at least I do I can't rave enough about this place! I'm so sick of "junk" food here in Florida- this place 100% will make you soul sing, body vibrate, and will make you crave for more! Hands down best italian food in the state! I drive a hour to eat here and you should too!!!!

Been to this family style restaurant numerous times and never disappointed by the food. Had a reservation but still waited 20 minutes. The maitre de did come over and apologize and offered us a bottle of wine. Great place for big parties.

We where so excited to visit this restaurant for the first time ever! Never mind it was Thanksgiving. We didn't care about the cost all we wanted was a good meal. Here was our experience. Our server Justin was a joke! We sat down at 3:00 pm. I asked him what beers do you have. He said corona, bud light, miller light . I asked do you also have mojito he said yes. He came back and said sorry we don't do mojito so I said Corona would do. Back he came and said sorry no corona. I said what do you have. He replied the other two beers,OK miller light then. Guess what! Yip he came back and said again I'm so sorry we only have bud light. Now I have to say I was proud of myself because I was about to kill him at this point. This is an up scale Italian Family restaurant. After asking him many questions about the menu that he seriously had to come and go to get the answer we placed our order 45 min in. He apologized over and over again and then advised us i'm sorry i just started this job! The food was good but not great, The sauce on my dish was seriously like soup. I didn't want to complain as we were here to have a holiday meal. Justin you really have to know what is on the menu before you serve and also what drinks are available you wasted 45 min of our time before you placed our order! Not good. So over all we will never return and i will post my experience on many pages ! Sorry...

Great dinner as always . The bartender needs to get into 2014 and realize that woman have their own $$ and deserve attention to be served in a timely manner. Went there sat At bar on a quiet weeknight waiting for guests, 4 people were at the bar . He never once asked in 15 minutes can I get you anything ! You don't deserve to work there!!!

Love a bar with a classic appearance and classic looking bartender, and Matteo has both. Excellent. Restaurant was a little noisy but perhaps due to a large (12) party nearby. Decor was inviting. I found the service to be very good. Not great but certainly comfortably good. My relatively simple chicken dish was exactly what I wanted - prepared perfectly. I really enjoyed the white bean/greens served with it. Burned broccoli was a very pleasant surprise - I've made it many times but this far exceeded my best effort. Need to figure out what they know that I don't. Cappuccino - big disappointment. Unsure how it was screwed up but bottom third was cool and the entire serving seemed prepackaged or pseudo. Odd. Overall, I had fun. And will go back most certainly. There is a Hendrick's on the rocks waiting.

This place is very well known. The portions are gigantic so bring your appetite. The clams are amazing. The burnt vegetables are not to be missed. Get the Napoleon for dessert. And then after take a walk in downtown Boca Raton.

First time dining here after many friends suggestions...Saturday night sat at the bar. Started with the stuffed artichoke which was cooked to perfection and totally tasty. Had a pasta special bucatini with spinach, chopped tomatoes and roasted garlic in a light cream tomato sauce...so good. For those who are carb conscious they had a zucchini linguine dish which the chef altered specially and made a pesto sauce which was delicious. Will go back with a large party so we can have family style dinners and taste more options. Great Italian food!

  • Bruce J.

Horrible and overpriced. We shared scrimp scampi (three of us) and the sauce was horrible, the shrimp were overcooked; one of our party had the veal chop; it was more like a flat piece of veal that was breaded, a far cry from a veal chop, plus, it was $46 or $48 dollars. Three people got nauseous and had the runs afterwards.

We went there for dinner last night. We were told there would a 45 minute wait, the wait wound up being an hour and a half. We questioned the hostess as to when we would have a table, and she rudely informed us that she had no idea when our table would be ready. The management got involved and we were seated. They nicely bought us a round of drinks, and the service from there on out was good. Food was decent, but I'm not running back.

We made a reservation to come here today for 20 people for Christmas dinner... We sat down at 5 and asked if we could split the check three ways.. we could only do two. Fine. Everyone at the table for the most part ordered either a chicken or veal plus a half size of pasta for a few of us to share. After placing the order about 20 minutes later they came back to tell us that the kitchen was asking for us to Orser full pastas not half portions because the half portions were "killing the kitchen " either that or they asked that we please share a few full sizes. This didn't work because everyone wanted something different and some people don't eat seafood and others do. So we had to cancel two orders instead of getting what we wanted which in turn only made less money for the business. I understand it's Christmas but if a large party makes a reservation and you can't handle half sizes of dishes then they should not be available on the menu and a set menu should be made....a manager should never force a customer to get something they do not want. The service was good there was nothing wrong with that but the cooks and managers could not have been less accommodating. Needless to say the food was average and I would not return again especially since its considered a higher end restaurant and we were not treated like we were at a high end place in boca Raton.

The food is really good. Tastes like home style cooking. The service is consistently excellent. The place isn't fancy and it's located in a strip mall. Make reservations because otherwise it an be a long wait.

My favorite Italian restaurant had maybe 5 or 6 locations in the New York area thank god they opened one up in Boca Raton a few years ago. Best baked clams best zuppa clams...veal parm...huge portions of pasta...filet of sole oreganata....everything they make is fantastic the service is great and the place is packed 7 days a week 365 days per year get there before 6:30 otherwise you will wait for a table. I rarely wait for a table anywhere but Mateos is the exception it's definitely worth the wait!

First time here the only way to describe it Awesome food and great service. Place was packed and busy but it was ok that is what family restaurant is all about. It took awhile for food to come out but that is expected when the place is busy. If you want cheaper food go to Olive Garden. You get what you pay for.

First time at Matteo's. The night did not start off great. We had a reservation for 5 at 7:30 and weren't seated until 8:15. The place was really hectic and they were not transparent about how long the wait would take. But then they made up for it by offering us drinks on the house. Some Pinot Noir later we had stuff mushrooms (vegetarian) for an appetizer, eggplant parm, penne alla vodka, and an amazing fish. It was all family style and delicious!

We go here on occasion, usually to celebrate someone's birthday. The food is always consistent and yes - the portions are large. So plan on sharing. They're famous for their meatballs, but I don't think they're as good as they used to be. The service is always terrific.

Someone close to me has given me gift certificates to this restaurant for the past two years. This individual is a fan of fine Italian cuisine, so I WAS excited to try this place out. We visited this place twice. The first time, we ate; the second time, we got up and left. PROS: -They have valet parking, so you don't need to find parking. -It is a popular place, and is always packed. -If you don't like valet (like me), finding parking across Federal highways isn't hard. -The burnt Broccoli is really good. -Even if it's not cool out, outside seating is the way to go. The building generates a nice breeze, which beats sitting in the cramped inside. CONS: -Both times we went, the service was anything but friendly. They act like you're bothering them. -The host, who I imagine is somehow related to the owner, is spastic, impatient, and rude. Asking him how long the wait is for a table of two is akin to asking him to wash your car. -The time we actually ate there, we sat outside, and were almost completely forgotten about. We ate at 9pm. I guess we were eating too late for them, as they put the check at our table, and didn't offer us a dessert menu. -The clientele at Matteo's is primarily older, rude, rich snow birds who think the world is their toilet. This is probably why the service is rather unfriendly. -For our second attempt, I tried making reservations, but was told that they don't take reservations for parties of 5 and under. We tried getting a table, but the rude host kept telling me 20 mins after waiting 35. -The dining room inside is packed, always. For the money, its not a very intimate or elegant atmosphere. If you are in your 70's, have had 3 face lifts, drive a Mercedes, love to fight with wait staff, over-pay for food, and are generally unhappy, then this is your honey hole. I would love to say I would never come back here again, but now I have over $150 in unused gift cards to this nightmare eatery. Imagine going to the DMV, but paying almost $200 for the experience... That is Matteo's of Boca.

Outstanding food and service. Prices are excellent and even the smaller portions can be shared. Tonight I went out for my parent's 52nd year anniversary and tried the stuffed artichoke, house chopped salad, baked clams, lobster ravioli, and my entree clams with shrimp and muscles over linguini in a red sauce, and house red Cabernet wine. The food, service and atmosphere were all perfect. We all had a great time and I will definitely be back more often.

I have been here before I was a yelper. And once again this place was packed like a can of sardines. Right of the bat things moved real slow. I think it took 15 mins before someone even looked at us while waiting right in front of the desk. The guy behind the desk was rude and not nice to the clients. Did not crack a smile once to anyone. Probably the owner son!!! After about 20 mins to sit we ordered and the waiting started again. It took 50 mins before we got some food. We complained and we were offered free dessert. But of course when the bill came they charged us we had to refresh their memory. I ordered Chilean Sea Bass. And it was good. Really good. Margarita style. Very big portion. Everything is big here and they suggest either share or order half. The price is not cheap here and food is great. But their rating is not that good here and I think it's because of the service and how they treat customers. It cost us $200 with no booze and dessert on the house for 4 people. So please be nice to your customers esp. the guy at the front desk. He knows who he is. Smile and be happy for what you have.

If a restaurant is open holidays they must be able to serve everything that is on the menu. Made a reservation for 20 people for Christmas dinner and left disappointed and $600 poorer. The restaurant could not accommodate my parties demands. At one point the waiter came out and told us that some of the food could not be made because our orders would "kill the kitchen". It was obviously a tactic to get us to order the larger portions of the meals but we were arguing that we wanted to try the different items on the menu. They simply wouldn't have it. What a terrible experience in boca. You'd think that money would get you a great meal but that is not soo in Mateos. The atmosphere was terrible. We were seated in a tent outside in plastic chairs and the the waiter was terrible. For the prices he portions were an absolute joke. I thought the place was "family style". You will simply never catch me at this location again. Probably the worst restaurant in boca. Very lucky they were some of the few restaurants open.

I love good Italian food but have mixed feelings on this local place. Originally from Long Island, NY-they serve individual and family size entrees. Great for large parties, not great for couples. The clams were great. They say it's because they fly them in from NY-but the preparation was on point. They are supposedly known for their scarpariello, but stay away. It was dry and bleh. Filetto di pomodoro pasta worth a try. Fish was fresh. Wine list was decent with a nice selection of Italian wines. Service perfunctory but not warm. Overall in a sea of not good Italian restaurants, this one is worth trying- but a bit overpriced unless you are with a large group and do the family style thing share a few dishes.

I was there celebrating a big family event, and while my food was quite good the same can't be said of everyone at my table. I had the 1/2 Insalata Gabriela which even at a half portion was so big I took half of it home for lunch the next day, and it was still good. I ordered the shrimp alla Wendy off the healthy portion of the menu. It came over burnt string beans and was fresh and delicious. My sons ordered mozzarella sticks as a starter, and they came out cold. Not good for mozzarella sticks to be cold. One of the boys ordered caesar salad and never got it when the rest of us got our salads. We asked about it, and still it never came. The waiter finally brought it out- AFTER everyone's dinner was served. And then he was astonished when we said send it back. Another son ordered shrinp parmesan and didn't like it. The sauce was so heavy it didn't taste like shrimp. When we told the waiter- yes, same waiter- he picked up a fork and knife and cut into it. He held the piece high for everyone to see and announced it was shrimp! I have never seen such a rude waiter! So- while my dinner was good, I would not go back. For those prices I expect bedtter service.

This place has the best mid-priced Italian that you will find in South Florida. From Peter at the door to Timmy at the bar we always have a warm and amazing experience. You've got to try the the baked clams and the calamari fra diavolo. The desserts are just as amazing also. They are all made in house except for the Tartufo.

If I could give a zero i would What a horsesht place. What horrible service. I wouldn't recommend ordering the filet. Why? Because you won't get one. Why? Because it's on the menu, but not in their kitchen. Don't bother asking the manager either because he will give you a shit response. Rude and arrogant servers and management. Waited an hour on top of the time we had for our reservation. How does that happen??? They know how to take the reservation.... They just don't know how to keep it. Sapori is much better with better service and better food. Just go there

Matteo's has been around for ages. It's an authentic Italian family style restaurant originating from Long Island. Being that it's family style, expect the portions to be fairly large. The Boca location doesn't offer up the same experience as the OG Matteo's and despite having the same "ingredients" I can't say the food is exactly the same either. I've gone to Matteo's a dozen times and each time I leave a little underwhelmed. Service is either spectacular or unambitious, and when I drop a hundro on a meal for two I want spectacular each and every time. The crowd is slightly older, think Royal Palm demographic. It's a good place to go with a bunch of people if you want real Italian food vs. some place like Maggiano's which is basically a souped up Olive Garden. Over the years the food has been a little inconsistent. On some nights the clams or calamari are out of this world, then other times have been pretty bland. Also, I've had issues with some of the food coming out luke warm and that ain't cool. The chicken or shirmp parm are safe orders but the sauce can be a deterrent if you're aren't a fan. Going into Matteo's you should expect the following. Pricey menu items, large portions and a fun environment and the rest is a crap shoot. If your food comes out hot and you enjoyed it consider that a bonus.

I've been here many times and each time would give this place a solid 5 stars. There were so many things that I've eaten here that I would rave about this place to all my friends as second to none. However the last time that I ate there I was horribly embarrassed as we were there celebrating a family members Birthday and brought another family that had never been there before. There were so many things go wrong that I was just horribly embarrassed shortly after we sat. Multiple items were listed on the very large specials chalkboard in the front, unfortunately for us every item that we tried to order they had "run out of" we were there at 6:30 PM.... not late in the evening. Not to worry, we'll just order some of the house specialties and rely on our usual. Well that was short lived when multiple things arrived to the table overcooked, including what looked like a blackened chicken parmesan.... very sad day, all the way to the desserts that were not available simple things such as sorbet (that we always enjoyed in the fruit).. It was a terrible night, so much so that had we not been with friends we would have had to have words with the management. I wonder if this restaurant is no longer owned by the same people that have run it prior to this past summer....

had a terrific family , dinner with folks of all ages. everything was delish and the @@@@service was exceptional@@@@. there were 5 people who waited on us. bus service was immediate and water as refilled by 2 men at the same time. we were a party of 7/ our waiter Alberto was the best waiter that I have had in a long time. my kids 8 and 11 were happy and the 90 year old great aunt at the table was pleased too. family style and sized portions were great...chopped salad, Bolognese over rigatoni veal franchese and mussel--sweet as can be and giant tender calamari---not overly salted. gravies were delish.. reservations----didn't make one! came in on saturday eve at 615 and was told by GM -owner that there was NOTHING avail. ...hmmmmm he sat us down at a table about 2 minutes later. there was no banter, no eye rolling etc as I have read in other reviews. it just worked out for both parties benefits.... thank you Peter--- your neighbor,,,,you and your staff were excellent!!! the T family will be back very soon!!!!

Service and food is a hit or miss. Catch it on a thursday or friday and you'll probably get great service and quick yummy food. Portions are massive so order a 1/2 portion to save some money on the often overpriced entrees.

OUR FAVORITE!!! LOVE MATTEO's!!! We live in California and visit 2x a year - Matteo's is a MUST!!! It is VERY busy "in season", reserve early and often!!! Real NY style Italian - I love the bar/waiters/experience oh yeah, & the FOOD!!! I have been to their original location in NY and this has a NY feel!! A DEFINITE MUST GO!!! ENJOY!!

I have been eating at Matteo's for 20 years, first in NY and now here in Boca Raton. It is family style Italian food at its best. If you are looking for a quiet small Italian restaurant, this isn't the place for you. Also the NY attitude may turn some timid folks off. But if you order the baked clams (the best), stuffed artichokes, chopped salad (with meat and cheese), linguini in clam sauce (white) or rigatoni a la vodka and just about any of the entrees your entire group will go home happy. Peter the matre'd is the man to talk to there.

Matteos rocks. Aside from the packed crowd of blue haired oldies, Matteos is one of my fav's in Boca. Especially if youre going with a big group. The portions are massive and family style. The quality...awesome. Real deal, NY style family italian. Some of my fav's: Chicken Matteo's, Chicken/veal marsala, Chicken Mona (healthy), Pasta aglio olio, shrimp oregenata, and snapper margarita.

Food is always good quality and well prepared. Try the Frutti de Mare over linguine. The pork chops with broccoli rabe is delicious. Chicken Matteo is delicious. So many good dishes on the menu. Enjoy!

OVER PRICED DOG FOOD!!!!!! If you don't know any better and you know who you are...you will love this place..for the rest of us that understand what great food taste like ( from what I can tell from S FL thats about 5% of us) you will feel like you got food raped...for real go to Olive Garden & put on a blind fold.. you would pick it over Matteo's any day of the week & twice on Sunday!!!!! for the rest of you that have more money then taste keep going..I don't like to see any place fail.....

My fiance' family loves this place, I like the food, the Oreganta is top notch and a must have if you go. Service is hit and miss. I went for a big party with 40 or so family members and the service was terrible. Other times I have gone to dinner with her family and the service was great, so I will give them the benefit of the doubt. My biggest gripe is the price. I just feel its too expensive, and thats why it only gets 3* instead of 4.

Passed the Meatball Test! Yes I have a meatball test...and theirs are VERY large like a softball and very good (still favor Matariano's & Timpano's meatball hence why they get 4 stars). Also had the Penne a la Nona (not on menu) which was a red creamy sauce w/peas and mushrooms and VERY AMAZING! The veal parm was good. The warm choc chip cookie sundae w/icecream was tasty! LARGE portions but VERY good! The service was great and the random goombas who keep the front desk up were also very nice! This place is very open so don't come here if you want to be discreet on what you eat or who sees you! For sure feels like you are in an episode of Soprano's this on purpose.

One of my favorite italian restaurants. I love the baked clams and I don't think I've tried anything on the menu I didn't like.

Food is good if you can see through the nonsense. Service is careful once you state your intentions. Being money and tude. No way that you can get through this place without a problem.

What can you say about a restaurant that just gets it? I guess my view point may be a little skewed because I was there for a banquet and didn't have to pay, but I can definitely speak to the food and the ambiance. We started off with a nice salad with sliced cherry tomatoes and olives. They set a plate on the table with diced cheese and what I believe was mortadella which was definitely a nice touch. The salad was perfectly dressed and flavorful. Next came the appetizers... Breaded clams were a big hit at my table, and apparently the sauce was so good that even a few ladies were taking the bread and dipping it in the sauce. The zuchini sticks wers perfectly breaded, light, and crispy. They came with a tomato sauce that was so evenly balanced, it complemented them well, not too acidic, not too sweet. Then came the entrees and side dishes..... The veal francaise went over very well, but the hit of the evening was the chicken and sausage.

My family & I frequent this restaurant when in town so its a special treat to be known & treated w the utmost care/attention. The cuisine is totally on point- traditional regional Italian executed with the utmost care & precision. I luv luv luv the seared whole broccoli! Warm Mozzarella, Roast Holland Red Peppers & Fresh Asparagus Vinaigrette, Stuffed Artichokes, Pasta Alla Marechiara, Veal Milanese (perfect!), Chicken "Angelina", Shrimp Luciano- excellent. The bar is at once warm & sophisticated- the best bartenders! Excellent wine list. The decor is attractive. It gets very busy on wknds. Very upscale "SFL-seasonal" crowd- conversational & dripping w/jewels, older man/younger woman. But its a home away from home & I luv it!

One of our worst dining experiences. They even said they ran out of bread, when questioned, the waiter said the bread we saw was from other tables. Service was horrible and we tipped accordingly. Waiter had the audacity to come out after us and complain about the tip. Would never go back.

Over-rated and over-priced. There are some good things to eat, like the baked clams. However, the attitude and atmosphere is not good. Many better options in Boca than Matteo's.

Didn't actually eat here because mo one would serve us! My husband and I came here one evening and when we went in and saw how obnoxiously loud it was inside, we asked if we could sit outside. The lady at the front said sure sit anywhere. No one came to our table so I asked again if it's ok for us to sit there. We were assured someone will be with us. After 15 min we left. Never coming back.

A first time visit at around 6:30p on a weekday...not too impressed with decor or specialties menu.Ordered a full order of tomato and mozzerella as an appetizer and was surprised at the 3 slices of tomato and 4 slices of mozzerella? That's a full order??? It looked like a half order or less? Then attempted to order a specialty platter dessert and the dessert was not even available!!! Another specialty dish I attempted to order was not available either! It was unbelievable! As for the population of the restaurant it was the older crowd(50'sand up) We settled on veal marsala with fresh mushrooms which was delicious. Sadly, though having specialties on a menu and not having them available so early in the evening is strange?? Anyways, they earned the extra star for the entree. (Should 've stuck to the favorite-next time Casa D'angelo around the corner! That does not disappoint!)

If you are not a regular or you don't feel like slipping someone on staff a $20 don't bother even showing up. You will be treated like they are doing you a favor.... our 30 minute wait lasted over an hour and the four of us were finally shown to a table for two in front of the kitchen. Waiters who kept tripping over us were as upset as we were. Have never written a negative review before but the arrogance of this place was very motivating!

Went there with my family on Christmas Eve. I could not have been more disappointed. We had an 8:00 reservation and when we arrived the hostess informed us that we would have to wait at least an hour and a half. Every other party that was waiting was also so upset. We ended up leaving there and ordering take out from some where else . What a way to spend Christmas Eve. Restaurant owners shouldn't get so greedy. Would never go back.

Went for a friends birthday. Menu was chosen for us by the host and hostess. Calamari, baked clams and salad were excellent. Pasta was cooked perfectly and sauce was amazing. We had the staple chicken parm which was good as was the lemon chicken. We also shared a shrimp dish with well done string beans which was out of this world. We are definitely going back and so happy to have finally found an Italian restaurant in Florida that knows how to do it right!!

Happened upon a gift certificate and decided to go. Had a great waiter Mariano, who picked out wine and assisted with our picks. GET Pasta Amatriana freakin delicious, Seafood Pasta was blah, Veal Valdostana was the BOMBBBBB. Calamari Arrabiata was delious. Sauted and spicy love it. OVERALL happening atmosphere, couple of goombahs, Great food and wine, do it do it.

Family style Italian. Expensive, but very large portions of unremarkable food. ESPN on tv's throughout the dining room. Frankie Valley at loud volume on the stereo. Lots of New Jersey accents - think Sopprano's extras.

I came here for a party a little while ago, and i thought the food was decent at best. The wait staff kept hitting my head when they were putting plates down, and everyone was saying the same thing, so i thought that was kind of bizarre that everyone said that. Some of the items that the party host picked out werent that great. But on a positive note, the eggplant rollitinis or whatever they are called were fantastic!!!!!!!

My husband and I won a gift card for this place and all I can think to say is: Thank God we did not pay for this meal out of our own pockets! We could not make a reservation because they do not take reservations for parties of two. So we waited more than an hour to be seated in what might be the most overrated restaurant in South Florida! I assumed that the sheer number of patrons was a hint about the food quality and service but we were wrong on both fronts. Our elderly waiter was the most unpersonable person on earth. When, starving, we asked to place an appetizer order, he simply said, "No". While my mouth hung open in shock, he told us to "call him when we were ready to place our whole order". We ordered a half order of fried calamari, about $15, which were like rubber bands. I ordered the Lobster Ravioli, which happened to be very good. A half order was $19 with 5 large ravioli. My husband ordered the Shrimp Marinara. About 10 shrimp in marinara sauce with NO PASTA for $30! These were totally tasteless! To use up the gift card (so we'd never return), we ordered a chicken limon to go (three flat chicken breasts for $30 and not tasty!!) and a coconut creme cake slice for $12 (decent). I found the prices to be outrageous and not large at all. (My husband and I are not overweight) Our waiter never once came back to us to see if we needed anything or to see how everything was going. There were a couple other service people who attempted to tend to us however. Such a shockingly miserable experience, we will never return. With the number of people in the place, all I can think is that we missed something big....

I had a reservation for a party of 9 adults. The front desk Ladies were great. They were professional, nice, and willing to help. The gentleman that sat us was obnoxiously loud and annoying for a better word. They sat us by the front door in chairs that were meant for the outside where you couldn't lean back or you would be so far from the table you couldn't eat. They looked out of place, and inappropriate in a "upscale" family style dining atmosphere. The waiter was horrible, again this loud, obnoxious attitude. He is the reason I would not return to this restaurant. The food was amazing however there are 9 of us and they serve 8 stuff shrimp just stupid things like that . If you have 9 people and they order apps, at least make sure it covers all 9 or let us know and we'll order two. We were not shy in what we were ordering and frankly we in the end ordered too little. We ordered 2 apps, 2 pastas, 1salad,4 dinners. The waiter assured us it was enough. The asst waiters were also horrible but took their cues from the head waiter. He told them we were done and they proceeded to remove our food although we were still eating, the lady pouring the water almost knocked out the person sitting next to me because she would try to fill my water by leaning over the other persons food to get to my glass. I attempted to show her to go behind a person but she just didn't get it. In a restaurant you never go over someones food like that especially when their eating. He wanted us out so he can get another table so we sat there until the front entrance was empty. You don't take people's food away when their eating, you don't lean over someones plate and you don't treat people like there doing you a favor by eating there. I won't be back because of the service. I do like the food, but I'm big on customer service and they didn't produce.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
